2007 is the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford Roadster. In commemoration, Ford has licensed the building of 100 75th Anniversary Roadsters. For this special project a new company has been formed.
Detroit Street Rods, LLC will be responsible for managing the manufacturing and distribution of all 100 cars. DSR anticipates the manufacturing to begin in the summer of 2007. They are currently meeting with selected manufacturers to determine who will paint and assemble the cars. Once complete the cars will be delivered through a select network of Ford dealers nationwide.
Each Anniversary Deuce will be built High Boy design without fenders. The Dearborn Deuce ConvertibleTM all-steel body will be incorporated exclusively. A traditional boxed 1932 rail will be the basis for the perimeter chassis. The car will feature the traditional Ford 9″ rear differential with a 3:89 posit-traction gear and stainless four link rear suspension. The 4″ dropped front axle with cross leaf spring will support the front. A traditional style gas tank with spreader bars between the front and rear boxed rails is standard. The current tail lamp is a tear drop design. Front headlamps are traditional `32 Ford style mounted on separate stanchions. A traditional hood with open sides will follow the all steel `32 Ford grille shell and custom stainless grille insert.
Engine and transmission are currently specified as the "new" Ford Boss 302 engine with Ford's automatic overdrive transmission. Interior appointments include leather styled seating and door panels. Gauge cluster and interior leather will feature Ford's 75th Anniversary logo. Custom chrome wheels will be fitted with traditional style hot rod tires. The Anniversary Deuce will be available in five standard non-metallic colors. Each 75th Anniversary Deuce will carry a unique sequential serial number. The first ten serial numbered cars will be autographed by Edsel Ford and carry an additional $25,000.00 charity fee to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in the buyer's name.
The estimated retail price is $165,000.00. A menu ofafter sale upgrades for the Anniversary Deuce is being developed.
